Job Description:

Fastlane Server

SQL Server Software

Must have SQL 2008 R2 Experience

Manage SQL R2 maintenance plan

Oversee system performance and tuning including compacting database regularly

Monitor backup jobs; test to ensure working correctly; define and test recovery process

Facilitate recovery of the database by BSD-IT staff and the software vendor, Horizon, in the event of a database crash.

Monitor server logs, disks, services, memory, scheduled tasks. Make recommendations for improvement, if necessary.

Ensure SQL server is set-up to best practice standards as defined by software vendor (Horizon), or to optimal standards based on need.

Troubleshoot and repair Microsoft failure of SQL 2008 R2 Scheduled Task for current vendor (FSA) electronic batch file electronic order

Act as a liaison between BSD-IT and software vendor (Horizon) to identify and fix any gaps in Fastlane server maintenance and support.

Analyze and manage preventative diagnostics for hardware

Assist in creation of and facilitate any future electronic order systems with new vendors.

NS Site PC's

Oversee and manage desktop system performance and tuning for 50 sites

Identify areas causing poor performance and make recommendations for improvement

1) Explain the purpose of a maintenance plan and what you would set up in a typical maintenance plan.

2) Describe how SQL merge replication works

3) We are experiencing long delays with SQL on the client replicating to the up-stream database server. Explain what areas you would look at and how you would troubleshoot those areas.
