Job Title: DB2 LUW DBA Consultant

Duration: 6-12 Months

Location: Minneapolis, MN  

Interview Type: Phone Hire

Important Note: Must be a US Citizen as they have to pass the DOD security background check.

Job Description:

Experience in a distributed environment (that means not just mainframe, but also worked with LUW – Linux, Unix, Windows). 

Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications.
Modify existing databases and database management systems.
Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.
Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope and limitations.
Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.
Specify users and user access levels for each segment of database.
Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to computer systems such as the installation of new databases.
Must have:
• 5+ years of DB2 LUW DBA experience
• 3+ years of Red Hat Linux experience
• 3+ years of scripting experience
• DB2 HADR experience
• Performance tuning experience
• Upgrade/patching experience along other regular DBA tasks (installation, create and manage DB, etc.)
• Good communication skills, team player, capable of prioritize and multi-tasking
Nice to have:
• TSM knowledge
• TWS knowledge
• QREP experience
• Application development (in SQL) experience

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Proficient problem solving and fact finding skills
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to define the complete technical infrastructure environment
- Ability to review ongoing and proposed projects to identify opportunities for reuse and process improvement
- Ability to review project deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established project standards
- Ability to document and communicate the status of progress against plans, taking corrective action as necessary
- Ability to identify, clarify, and resolve project activity issues and risks, escalating them as needed
- Ability to review technical documentation to verify compliance with client requirements and established architectural standards and guidelines
- Participate in 24x7 oncall support
