Job Description:
(What will the NPW do on that project?)
Project Manager needed to transition a live intranet website with a 5,000+ user base from an existing MS SQL Server 2005 back-end single server environment (Development/Production) to a new MS SQL Server 2008 back-end multi-server failover environment (Development vs. Production). Server currently provided for all Southeast Project Management Reporting for Construction and Engineering. Candidate for this position must be experienced in MS SQL Server conversion projects and possess knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server best practices. Conversion efforts include the following: 1) Develop and coordinate a transition plan with management/web development team to ensure a smooth and seamless transition. 2) Obtain/install/configure new ODBC drivers to multiple data sources (DB2, IBM Informix, Teradata, Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, MS SQL Server). 3) Copy multiple databases while making performance recommendations to improve user experience. 4) Copy stored procedures/views/UDFs while making performance recommendations to improve user experience. 5) Copy/update/convert legacy DTS and SSIS packages while making performance recommendations to improve user experience. 6) Perform thorough website and database testing. 7) Immediately following the server cut-over, perform additional database performance tuning and database support.
