US CONSULTING - CONTRACT SQL DBA good with PL/SQL Coding experience required

""""PLEASE MAIL ME YOUR UPDATED RESUME AT kevinb@amtexsystems.com"""""

Face to face must after telephonic interview

Title: SQL DBA good with PL/SQL Coding experience

Duration: 6 – 12+months

Location: Columbus OH

Job Description:

The resource needs to be able to take high-level direction, ask questions and then deliver.

While they have senior level people to answer domain specific questions, we do not have enough people to teach how to develop on the job.

Ability to work independently, without constant guidance is a must.

Application DBA" set of skills
• advanced SQL knowledge including different types of joins, ANSI syntax, nested sub queries, hierarchical queries and analytical functions
• understanding how oracle optimizer works, how to tune statements, how to read explain plan output, and how to profile a piece of SQL in general
• experience in troubleshooting production issues such as deadlocks and other race conditions – related issues, as well as sudden performance bottlenecks
• hands-on experience with Oracle 11
• understanding how to read and interpret oracle AWS and ADDM reports
• strong understanding of RDBMS fundamentals (normal forms, set operations, etc.)
• proficient in designing DB tables, relationships between tables (including many-to-many), other types of constraints, oracle-specific entities like IOTs
• practical knowledge of how to create & configure a DB instance "from scratch"
• experience in planning and executing DB migrations (knowing which precautions to take, when/how to commit/rollback, etc.)
• [not a must, but preferable] experience with oracle text (context indexes using custom data store)
• Important note: the DBA responsibilities will be mostly limited to those described above. Specifically, there will be little in terms of "traditional" "production/system" DBA responsibilities like
• Managing archive logs and physical storage space
• Backing up / restoring databases
• Monitoring alert logs, opening SRs with Oracle
• The person in this role will not possess Oracle DBA role (privileges) and will not have access to servers running the database in most of the cases (so (s)he will need to be comfortable working under those limitations)

PL/SQL developer" set of skills
• hands-on experience developing oracle packages and stand-alone procedures/functions
• hands-on experience developing oracle triggers of different type (per-row/per-stmt, before/after); understanding potentials issues surrounding heavy use of triggers
• understanding general programming best practices (code modularity, code reuse, writing maintainable code, writing testable code)
• [not a must, but preferable] understanding how does JDBC work (without necessarily understanding java in depth, but having the concepts of bind variables, external transaction control, exception propagation)
• Unix user experience (connect to a remote server, navigate file system & run scripts from command line, write simple shell scripts, understand background jobs and nohup)
• Review existing implementations and recommend enhancements where applicable
• Ability to research and solve problems on his/her own using Google, newsgroups, vendor support and other external resources.

Regards

Kevin
