Job Title: SQL DBA

Location : Richmond, VA

Duration: 6+months

Responsibilities :

SQL DBA Gather business requirements and develop and update documentation including technical design documents, procedure materials,and capacity monitoring and design SQL database based on those requirements:

Database Sizing (Data, Index, Temp, Log) 

Backup and Recovery Policy 

Disaster Recovery set-up, Identifying RPO and RTO 

Configuration to meet throughput requirements of application 

Apply backups/restores, performance tuning, cloning, patching, upgrading, testing in multi-tier production and development environments 

Manage security components of the database environments and end user access 

Work directly with other infrastructure support personnel, end users, external consulting partners and other outside vendors as required 

Document test cases and scripts and perform functionality and patch testing, diagnose and debug problems, work with Microsoft to resolve issues 

Technical Qualifications 

5+ years in an DBA role in a large SQL environment (2000/2005/2008) 

Idera, performance tuning and troubleshooting 

Write, interpret, and execute T-SQL queries, windows scripts

SQL security implementation using Active Directory 

Education, Skills and Abilities 

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline with an information technology focus required 

Experience in managing large size (100 Gb plus) databases

Work experience in a large structured environment with significant process management (change management) and incident management

Ability to work independently and in teams and manage multiple task assignments simultaneously 

Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.

Prefer Finance industry experience
