Position               : Checkpoint Firewall Level 2 engineer.
Location               : Chicago (Northwest Suburbs)

Rate                    : DOE

Job Summary
Responsible for firewall and network security by validating that both new and existing architectures and applications are developed and deployed in a secure manner.  Collaborates with internal and external teams in the validation process.  Assists in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards in a networking environment.  Utilizes technologies, such as Firewalls, log correlation and operating system hardening in securing the infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent)

·         Implements and reviews firewall Checkpoint configuration.  Maintains, monitors, implements and reviews firewall, VPN, IPSec and Router ACL change requests.

·         Performs security assessments and reviews networking initiatives for security compliance.  Recommends and implements improvements to existing work flow processes.

·         Prepares status reports on security matters to develop security risk analysis scenarios and response procedures.  Denies, approves, or escalates nonstandard and emergency change requests.

·         Develops operational procedures for new network technologies and is involved in the continual improvement of network infrastructure and the implementation of new security based technologies.                        

·         Provides technical expertise to the team when troubleshooting complex issues.  

·         Participates in weekly conference calls regarding enterprise change management requests.

·         Collaborates with the business and other IT departments to establish process flows and service level expectations.

·         Available for on-call coverage during evenings, weekends, and holidays (24X7).
