Position: Teradata Database Administrator
Location: Richmond, VA
Duration: Six months with probable extensions
Responsible for the design, development and administration of transactional and analytical data constructs/structures. Included within those responsibilities are the areas of data access and delivery technologies. Duties include Physical Data modeling, Database design, creating Database objects, SQL tuning, UNIX shell scripting, and provide assistance to multiple project teams on their database needs.
• Design, Creation, maintenance, and support of database objects based on architectural guidelines and standards
• Physical database design
• Development of proactive processes for monitoring capacity and performance
• Perform system level and application level tuning
• Support application teams related to database application development
Basic Qualifications:
• Strong Knowledge of Teradata database concepts and Physical database design
• Five years of experience as a Database Administrator (Minimum three years of experience as a Teradata Database Administrator)
• Two or more years-experience in a Unix environment
• Experience with databases larger than 10TB
• Bachelors’ Degree in a technical discipline is a MUST
Preferred Qualifications:
• Excellent communication, organizational, and personal skills
• must be a good team player
• VBA/UNIX Shell scripting would be a plus
• Multi RDBMS Administration Experience would be a plus
• Database performance tuning / SQL tuning skills preferred
Preferred Certifications:
• Teradata Masters certification
• Any RDBMS Certifications would be an additional plus
