The following skills are required:
* High skill with most Solaris and/or Linux administration commands and utilities
* Fundamental understanding of the Solaris and/or Linux operating system and kernel
* Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (Perl, Tk, Bourne shell, etc.)
* Ability to troubleshoot complex system problems without supervision (performance problem involving database server, application server, and web server)
* Knowledge of VMWare
* Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle
* Knowledge of web and application servers Apache, Tomcat
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Capable of explaining procedures in writing or verbally
* Capable of training users in applications and operating system fundamentals
* Capable of writing documentation for applications and procedures
