We are looking for COBOL CICS Programmer (MSP exp) – Location – Jacksonville, FL – 6+ Months Contract Position.

Roles & Responsibilities:

·         5+ years MSP programming experience.

·         Researches complex programming problems for corrections or enhancements as assigned.

·         Writes new Cobol Batch and CICS programs with increasing degree of difficulty.

·         Creates test scripts and test data/test bases.

·         Creates standard company JCL/REXXes.

·         Moderates code reviews and internal design reviews.

·         Provides training and mentoring of peers and members of the group.

·         Identifies deficiencies in training/knowledge and communicates to management.

·         Develops technical (internal) designs that will meet client requirements, meet system objectives and minimize the impact on operations.

·         Responsible for multiple tasks with multiple priorities and complexities under minimal supervision.

·         Performs project estimation and sizing.

·         Developing and maintaining CICS-related performance standards

·         Assists in development of CICS-related department standards (coding, reviews, etc.).

·         Conducts research and documents findings and recommendations by using analytical problem solving.

·         Performs other related duties as assigned.

·         Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university in a related discipline or equivalent experience.

 

Technical Skills:

·         CICS/COBOL

·         JCL/ZEKE

·         VSAM/DB2

·         TSO/ISPF

·         Utilities (IDCAMS, FILEAID, XPEDITER, QUIKJOB, LIBRARIAN)

·         MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) 

Desired Qualifications:

·         Strong understanding of MSP Core (end-to-end process).

·         Ability to develop clear, well organized code designed to maximize efficiency and minimize CPU usage.

·         Ability to evaluate program/test/file utilities.

·         Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

·         Ability to foresee problems, to conduct the analysis and identification of the real cause of program and project issues (problem solving), identify solutions and implement a course of action that will ensure the most reliable, error-free software possible is delivered to our clients.

·         Excellent leadership skills (defined as the ability to influence or induce others in a direction, course, action, or opinion in order to produce positive results for the organization or a client).

·         Strong knowledge of application development techniques,/methodology/standard procedures (renames, review, etc.).

·         Ability to handle multiple tasks with excellent organizational and planning skills (defined as the ability to coordinate or schedule activities (time, effort, etc.) using prudent regard and provision for the future to achieve a task or organizational goal).

·         Understanding of and experience writing JCL.

·         Familiarity with production job flows and processes

·         Ability to work well under time constraints.

·         Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Good accountability skills are essential.

·         Knowledgeable in system design processes, methodologies and testing tools.

·         Proficiency in analytical thinking, problem solving skills and customer focus.

·         Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to create a cooperative relationship with customers.

·         Strong interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to work independently as well as partner with others as a team.

·         Willing to take the initiative to improve processes and resolve problems.
