US CONSULTING - CONTRACT Need Security Engineer

POSITION TITLE: Security Engineer

3-6 months contract to hire

  locations are Los Angeles, CA; Waterloo, ON; Herndon, VA

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are currently looking for security savvy individuals to support Sony's comprehensive efforts to create enterprise-grade, secure cloud-based solutions for our customers. The successful candidate will work in a fast paced, highly dynamic and challenging environment in collaboration with various teams across Sony to actively test, measure and extend product/service security. The incumbent will triage and assist in the resolution of any issues found and will work to promote and cultivate secure engineering practices within the development organization.

 

The ideal candidate will gain experience in building and managing relationships in a large complex ecosystem and at solving problems at the intersection of technology and people.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•             Cultivate and share expertise and capability in security engineering/SDL for cloud-based services

•             Advise on the safe integration of technologies and advise development team as to required product features or changes to support a strong ongoing security stance

•             Identify, analyze and triage potential (cloud specific) security issues and drive appropriate mitigations

•             Develop, manage and document security test methodologies, systems and equipment

•             Conduct security diligence on systems, architecture and implementation; work to continually improve our security posture

•             Produce clear and concise documentation related to product security in support of security engineering, response and validation activities.

•             Liaise and collaborate with various internal teams and external parties to facilitate the smooth and expedient resolution of product security issues and associated communications

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

•             Strong background in database-backed web-application and network security

•             Experience with Amazon Web Service deployments and related security

•             Programming experience in one or more of the following:

•             Java, .NET/C#, JavaScript, AJAX, PHP

•             Familiarity with secure coding methodology and best practices

•             Strong written & verbal communication skills including the ability to convey highly technical information in an accessible manner

•             Cool under pressure, objective, diplomatic

•             Ability to track and manage numerous parallel activities

•             Demonstrated analytical skills

•             The ability to work collaboratively with minimal supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team

•             Possess a strong work ethic and desire to get the job done

•             Bachelor degree, Masters degree or equivalent in a computer science/engineering related field

 

 OTHER BENEFICIAL SKILLS:

•             Programming experience with Python and Ruby

•             Database security experience (both SQL and NoSQL)

•             Experience with SPLUNK, McAfee Nitro, and/or Archer

•             Experience with Agile development methodologies

•             Product and network penetration testing

•             Automated code analysis for security issues (static analysis and fuzzing)

•             Experience with ISO27001

•             Application security configuration and best practices

 

NOTE: Preference will be given to those with professional security engineering or operations experience and/or those with professional product security consulting experience.
