JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a Data Warehouse Business Analyst, the candidate will be focused on the implementation of a data warehouse solution. We are interested in candidates with strong knowledge of Data Warehousing methodologies and concepts. The Business Analyst must have a strong technical background with respect to data. Candidates must have demonstrated experience analyzing data, working with databases, writing complex SQL queries, strong documentation skills, and experience leading JAD sessions with business users. In this role the BA will work directly with the technical developers and must understand the technical side of things, as well as translate the technical terms for communication to business. In this role the BA will act as the liaison between the technical team and the business. The BA will meet with the business to gather and document requirements. The BA will be required to produce detailed documentation – business requirements documents, technical specifications, and conceptual data mapping requirements. Candidates should be comfortable with, ETL and dimensional data models (star schemas). Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong customer service skills, the ability to multitask, and the ability to work independently. A qualified candidate should be highly self-motivated, have a sharp attention to detail, and possess proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. The successful candidate should be a quality-oriented team player who desires a challenging role to include strong written and oral communication, strong documentation skills, customer service skills and the ability to work well under pressure, as well as possess the ability to multi-task and problem solve.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Effectively identify, define and document detailed business and system requirements with the involvement of business subject matter experts.
• Translate requirements into functional specification, including process flow and data model documents.
• Integrate technical solutions with the business environment, recognizing systems interdependencies, reusability and ensuring seamless delivery.
• Ensure system deliverables meet business requirements by participating in identifying, designing and testing solutions. Ensure requirements integrity by managing changes to requirements
• Along with data analyst, profile and document data patterns to develop ETL code from source to target.
• Developing extract, transform, and load (ETL) SQL scripts to ensure requirements are fully known and can be documented and prototyped for user acceptance prior to execution phase of project.
• Along with data analyst develop test scripts for source to target ETL to ensure accuracy
• Contribute to the development of project plans by providing input to project charters, project deliverables, cost/benefits analysis, time line estimates, scope and control.
• Assist with the prioritization of initial feature development and ongoing change requests.
• Assist in translating requirements into test conditions and expected results for product, performance, and user acceptance testing.
• Solid research and analysis skills
Experience:
* Minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of SQL, data analytics, reporting, and relational database experience
•5 + years writing system requirements
•5 + years in data warehousing and dimensional modeling concepts
•5 + years proven experience providing data analysis and profiling services
•5+ years of demonstrable experience providing data analysis expertise contributing towards Master and Reference data management solutions
•Experience working with Upstream Oil / Gas data
Preferred Skills:
• The ability to work effectively with business and technical SMEs to understand requirements and define their data dependencies
• Strong troubleshooting skills to assist developers with data related bugs and issues
• At least 5 years working in a data warehouse/business intelligence/decision support systems environment
Education Qualification: Bachelor Degree
