CISCO NETWORK ENGINEER

Corning, NY

Key Responsibilities:
·         Network (LAN/WAN/WLAN) design and implementation
·         Develop and document templates and standards for supporting the network infrastructure.
·         Configure switches and routers to be deployed in various Corning sites
·         Implement and troubleshoot wireless networks, lightweight and autonomous
·         Ability to perform packet capture and analysis
·         Able to work with spreadsheets, drawings, and word documents
·         Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot firewalls to isolate non-compliant devices on the network.
·         Work with the team to complete complex switch and router installations
·         Respond to customer requirements and ensure that customer needs are being met by IT.
·         Assist with cross-functional project/issues/problems that are complex or difficult to resolve.
 
Job Requirements:
·         5+ years of experience in LAN troubleshooting and design.  Strong experience in WAN/Internet desirable
·         5+ years IT experience working across a number of technology areas, with at least 1 year working as a senior engineer or similar technology role.
·         Self-motivated and able to work independently and in virtual teams
·         Recognized as a technology SME (subject matter expert) in prior position
·         Good communication skills both verbal and written, and working with others.
·         Proficient knowledge of switches, routers, firewalls, and all associated protocols.
·         Strong Cisco Networking background

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office and Visio
 
Technical Proficiencies:
·         Core routing and switching design, configuration, and troubleshooting
·         Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches
·         Cisco Routers
·         Cisco ASA
·         Routing Protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP
·         Spanning-tree, VLANs, Port Channels, Load balancing, SPAN, NAT, ACL
·         Cisco wireless communication design and configuration: Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers, Client, and WAPs
·         Tools & Management: Wireshark, CiscoPrime, Cisco Wireless Control System (WCS)
·         Authentication: TACACS+, RADIUS
 
Desired Skills:
·         Large Enterprise Environment
·         CCNP\CCIE Preferred
·         Detailed documentation skills
·         Experience with Palo Alto firewalls a plus
·         Ability to travel occasionally
·         Knowledge of DNS, AD, DHCP, and security
·         VoIP experience a plus
·         Testing methodologies and skills
·         Awareness/familiarity with Six Sigma process
