Job Desc:
This Network Engineer will provide network support to a multitude of customer locations working about 50% from home, and 50% in the office. Responsible for operational activities and project work, along with some design/optimization in a large corporate environment.
This person will be expected to take lead role in the development/deployment of wireless N over 5GHz. This includes creation of guidelines for a large scale deployment across North America, writing work level instructions to serve as handbook for L1/L2 engineers.
Duties include the maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting of a Cisco enterprise network switching environment, a campus wired and wireless LAN, Cisco VoIP, a DMZ/Internet, and WAN/MAN sites. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures associated with network support in a Tier III Data Center. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of network related tasks.
Serve as central point of contact for escalated networking issues and complex problems
Network monitoring, Remote administration, configuration, trouble shooting, setup, deployment, IP Schema, IP Protocol, implementation and support of IP addresses, router table entries, network filters, and any other applicable operational configuration parameters for all managed Network devices.
Coordination with other tower teams for issue resolution (if required).
Ensuring successful implementation of changes needed for network performance optimization, new requirements etc.
Effective communication and coordination of events during handling incidents for any major network outages.
Experience in documentation of the Network Services e.g. Design criteria and standards, Topology documentation
Proper documentation of incidents, service request, change requests as per standard process.
Proper handling the incidents escalated from NOC & other teams
Interacting with TAC centers for both equipment vendors and WAN service provider.
Available as needed for on site visits in the Alpharetta, GA area
Job Requirements
Required Experience:
4-10 years experience providing network operations support in a mid to large sized organization.
Required Certification: CCNA Wireless
Preferred Certifications: ITIL Foundation, CCNP Wireless
Required Skills:
OSI & TCP/IP Network protocol architecture, Layering benefits and concept, functions of different layers, switches and LAN design, VLAN's.
Strong skills in DHCP and DNS administration
Experience on installation, configuration and maintenance of Cisco multilayer switches, Cisco routers.
Cisco Router & Switch experience with emphasis on IOS / CatOS.
Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP,IPX etc).
WAN transport technologies (Frame Relay, ATM, Private/Leased Line, MPLS, ISDN, PPP, HDLC)
LAN technologies (Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi)
Wireless LAN technologies ,Cisco unified wireless LAN solution etc.
Authentication, authorization, encryption mechanisms (LDAP, RADIUS, TACACS+, PKI, SSL, SSH)
Experience in Quality of Service, Multicasting
Experience in Implementation of IMAC requests via remote support, e.g.
* Updating of drivers and firmware
* Updating IOS through scripts and templates
* Configuration of device from scripts
* Configuration of monitoring software from scripts
* Testing and documentation of installation activities
Professional Skills:
Proven ability to manage own workload, priorities & deadlines and to work independently without supervision
Proven ability to work with customers to define requirements, develop solutions and implement those solutions on time and to budget.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
