US CONSULTING - CONTRACT Release Project Manager Opening

Client: Kaiser

Location: Portland Oregon

Position: Release PM

Length: 1 plus year

 

A successful candidate should be able to communicate extensively with our business clients and coordinate release activities within a fast-paced, project-based program that has many moving parts and multiple initiatives in-flight at any given moment.


In addition to previous technical experience, the candidate must have polished communication skills with the capability of presenting in front of both technical and non-technical audiences. Additionally, a successful candidate must be able to track and manage numerous issues at any one time.


Duties Performed:

- Coordinate and lead daily Scrum meetings with multiple application teams (15-minute 'stand-up' meetings)
- Coordinate and lead Release Planning sessions, where quarterly release content is prioritized and scheduled into production releases
- Coordinate and lead Sprint Planning sessions, Sprint Grooming sessions, and Sprint Review & Retrospective sessions with multiple Scrum teams
- Be the primary liaison between the IT teams and business clients, reporting on and providing status on development activities on a weekly basis
- Monitor and track release content to ensure that development teams know what work is planned into which release, and be able to help determine priorities for the development team
- Work with fellow IT team members to design and implement process improvements for monitoring and controlling development activities throughout the release cycle
- Work closely with the Application Development Manager to be forward-looking to anticipate resource constraints or other risks, and help determine mitigation plans, as necessary
- Report to upper management and business stakeholders on a daily and/or weekly basis, as needed
- Delegate tasks to and manage the progress on tasks assigned to other IT resources
- Be a thought leader for creating improved system monitoring and diagnostics processes


Qualifications:

Basic / Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree and 4 years of equivalent work experience
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in analysis of business processes and business case development to support IT solutions.
- 5 years of total work experience in any combination of the following roles: project manager, technical project manager, program manager, technical lead, ScrumMaster, or release manager
- 3 years experience leading others and delegating tasks to technical resources depending on business or regulatory priorities
- 3+ years experience using MS Project (or other project management software) to create project schedules, release calendars, or other project tracking tools
- Familiarity with the concept of resource loading and resource capacity planning, for purposes of balancing incoming change requests with available resources
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
