Job Summary
Incumbent participates in all phases of application development and support for highly complex projects/applications. Independently performs advanced/highly complex tasks and assignments. Assists with identifying and executing appropriate technologies and methodologies in order to implement applications/solutions. While advanced knowledge of a few, core areas of development and technology are required, the right candidate should possess very strong general analytical and problem solving skills.
Key Activities
- Participates in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle to implement highly complex applications/technology solutions. Utilizes company, department, and industry standards/best practices.
- Responsible for independently designing, coding, and documenting solutions ? making technical design and coding decisions independently on a daily basis, within the scope of architectural guidance. Analyzes requirements and develops associated technical design. Actively participates in development cycle (90-100% of allocated duties).
- Provides direction and guidance to less-experienced staff. Advises on policies, procedures, and best practices. Participates in design and quality reviews.
- Actively participates in creation and execution of unit and integration testing.
- Actively proposes continuous improvements regarding technologies and processes in order to increase organizational efficiency and application effectiveness/performance.
- Interacts with business partners in a support role. Participates in technical design, problem identification/resolution, and other support activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor?s degree specializing in information systems, technology, or equivalent education and work experience.
- 6 years of software development experience to include 3 years ETL development experience.
(IBM InfoSphere DataStage strongly preferred ? admin experience a plus). - Advanced knowledge of industry standards/best practices surrounding all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Demonstrated proficiency in relational database systems (DB2 a plus).
- Demonstrated proficiency with hand-written SQL and troubleshooting/performance tuning.
- Demonstrated proficiency with UNIX/Linux (e.g. shell scripting).
- Experience developing data warehouse applications preferred.
- Experience with data modeling/related concepts a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt and learn new technologies.
- Moderate to advanced oral and written communication skills.
- Moderate to advanced organization skills.
- Basic to moderate project management skills.
- Moderate to advanced interpersonal skills.
- Advanced customer service skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to produce desired results.
Experience with Agile software development principles a plu
