Location : Corrales, NM
Rate : DOE, # of Positions : 1, Duration : 5 months
Description : US Citizens Required
Designs and plans network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Skills/Experience:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience; or no experience required with a related Masters degree.
Current CompTIA Network and Security+ certifications
Current CCNA or CCNP cerstification
Experience with Cisco router and switch equipment
Experience with firewalls and IDP/IPS devices
Detailed understanding of the OSI Model, TCP/IP fundamentals, and networking (LAN/WAN) design principles
Detailed understanding of IP protocols; these skills must include: TCP/IP-based services (i.e. DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, etc); IP addressing/subnetting and routing principles (ie. RIP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, etc): IPv6/IPSec protocols (ie. SSL, TLS, SSH); network (LAN/WAN) design principles
Detailed understanding of Layer 2 protocols, including ATM, Frame Relay, DS0-DS3, OC3-OC192, PPP and HDLC
Working knowledge of MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Visio
Ability to lift, carry and move components of PC workstations, servers, network equipment, peripherals, and other ancillary equipment
Experience with HP, Dell, IBM server platforms
Knowledge of MS Windows Server 2003/2008 Active Directory
Working knowledge of programming languages such as Perl, C++ and Java desired, but not required
