General Description:
The primary function of the Sr. Middleware Engineer is to architect, implement, maintain, monitor and support production and non-production application infrastructure landscapes hosted in the datacenter and customer locations.
Specific Job Duties:
· Advanced administration and support of customer n-tier application infrastructure
· Installing, configuring and upgrading web, middleware and application server software and support tools
· Proactively manage and maintain web server, middleware and application server
· Alert customer with up to date security patch updates
· Release maintenance and management
· Adherence to change management process
· Troubleshooting middleware infrastructure issues
· Setup and manage high availability solutions(Clustering, LB)
· 24x7 application availability support and incident management
· Keep an up-to-date support document and assist in WLI developments
· Proactively identify and automate the routine tasks and hand over to operations
· Create WLIs for basic support tasks and frequently occurring issues
· Involve with architecting new solutions and design
· Provide directions, training and assistance to L1 and L2 supports when needed
· Document and support Disaster Recovery procedures, plans and tests
· Capacity planning
· Performance tuning
· Assist with the project implementation team as needed
· Assist others as required and promote team spirit
Education & Experience:
· Should have seven plus years of IT experience with at least five years supporting production systems on target platforms and administration experience in J2EE based application servers
· BS in Information Systems
· Masters Degree in an engineering discipline is a plus
· Certified in ITIL v3.0 and one of the supported web applications (IIS, WebLogic, WebSphere, etc)
Skills:
· Excellent team player with superb communication skills
· Excellent knowledge in administering J2EE based application servers preferably Oracle WebLogic, IBM WebSphere Application Server, JBoss or Apache Tomcat
· Strong Experience with web servers Sun One, Apache HTTP or IIS
· Experience in IBM WebSphere MQ
· Strong Linux, Unix and Windows platform experience
· Ability to provide strong leadership and clear direction
· Familiarity with Monitoring tools(eg: Sitescope)
· Familiarity with Incident management system(eg: Clarify)
· Basic knowledge of Networking, Storage, Backup and Recovery
· Understanding of AD, DNS, WINS, DHCP, HTTP, SSL, SSH, Firewall, DMZ
Key Success Factors:
· Meeting service level deliverables in a timely manner with good quality output
· Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members and customers
