Job Title: AIX Engineer
Location: New York City
Duration: 6 Month+ Contract to Hire

Business Unit: Unix Systems Engineering Team
experienced AIX Engineer for our direct client in New York City. The ideal candidate has experience working in a fast-paced environment and has great confidence in their ability to perform under pressure and changing priorities. Additional details are listed below.
Senior AIX Engineer

This is a senior position requiring administrative support and engineering capabilities.
Candidate should be very strong in the latest versions of the following:
AIX server engineering and support
Ability to configure and support the following AIX capabilities:
Create and manage VIOs
Configure and support Power HA
Create and manage LPARs
Activation of additional memory, cores and CPU's on IBM P-series (example P770)
Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Solaris, and scripting a plus

Level 5
A technical resource in a complex technical or professional discipline, seen as a leader in that field within the organization. Mentors less-experienced staff with responsibility for their technical development
Leads design sessions by presenting logical statements of business problems and designs, and offering and incorporating ideas. Designs projects with broad implications, requiring systems integration of one or more technical platforms.
Negotiates terms and conditions with vendors and procurement. Commits to deliverables. Selects tools and methodologies for projects. Contributes to strategic planning, including proposed cost implications.
Typically requires 10 or more years of experience and BA/BS degree or equivalent. Advanced degree desirable.
