Title: Cognos Developer

Primary function: Technical Resource for Mortgage Banking Inforrmation Delivery Business Intelligence / Reporting Developer
This position will serve as a technical resource to develop analytics and reporting for the Mortgage Banking business users. Candidate will be able to perform in several different roles, including:
1. Take business and system requirements, analysis and design of report specifications, and from this develop Cognos reports, dashboards, scorecards, cubes and portal pages. They will then peform unit test and create documentation
2. Another function of this resource will be to build queries (using SQL) to pull data from SQLSvr and Oracle databases.. This sometimes involves creating complex Excel spreadsheets
3. The resource may also be assigned with designing and implementing databases for the purpose of producing reports. The candidate must have demonstrated ability to work with SQLsvr and DTS packages for the purpose of loading data. Other RDBMS knowledge (Oracle, DB2) a plus.
Must demonstrate problem-solving skills.
Technical experience required:
• Demonstrated ability to develop in Cognos Framework Manager, Report Studio, Analysis Studio for version 8.3 and above.
• Demonstrated ability to develop dashboards and scorecards with Cognos.
• Demonstrated ability to develop multi-dimensional cubes with Cognos.
• Demonstrated ability to develop portal pages with Cognos.
• 3-5 years experience working with SQL Server 2000. Must have demonstrated ability to create databases, and create load programs. Other RDBMS knowledge (Oracle, DB2) a plus.
• Strong experience with SQL, must have worked with nested queries and query optimization.
• Two plus years experience working with report / BI tool such as Cognos, Crystal Reports, Business Objects, Tableau, Qlikview, etc.
• Strong Excel skills including macros and pivot tables.
• Familiarity with MS Access (one or more of 97 / 2000 / 2003/ 2007).
• Ability to use Microsoft suite of products effectively.
Technical experience preferred:
• Ability to work with Cognos Metric Studio preferred.
• 1-2 years experience working with scripting languages and Excel macros.
• Ability to work with SharePoint preferred.
Bachelor's degree and 9+ years progressive work related experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines/processes related to the position or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
Senior Level knowledge and experience with Data Warehouse environment and ETL software such as COGNOS or AB INITIO.
Provides direction in the development and maintenance of application programs as well as participates in various phases of the development cycle.
Ensures development adheres to performance optimization, interoperability standards and requirements, and compliance with IT governance
