Position: Linux Administrator
Location: Philadelphia,PA
Duration: 6 -8 Months Contract

Importance of job spec.

They are looking for  a lunux admistratior/engineer,  who has worked with hadoop clusters, and has some java programming
Must be strong in linux, and scripting with linux. First priority.
Hadoop cluster experience 2nd priority
Java programming third.

A person with a strong programming and/or Linux admin background wishing
to hone their Hadoop skills by taking on the role of Systems Administrator
for a mid-sized cluster.  This person will be responsible for the smooth
running and day-to-day operation of a mission-critical Hadoop cluster.
They will be expected to perform upgrades, manage configuration changes,
maintain system integrity and monitor cluster performance in what is a
multi-tenancy environment. The perfect candidate has exemplary
communication skills, is cool under fire and has the drive and enthusiasm
to help our cluster reach its full potential.

Job Responsibilities
- Maintain system integrity of all sub-components (primarily HDFS, MR,
HBase, Flume).
- Monitor system health and logs and respond accordingly to any warning or
failure conditions.
- Perform upgrades and configuration changes.
- Commission/decommission nodes as needed.
- Manage resources in a multi-tenancy environment.
- Research, identify and recommend technical and operational improvements
resulting in improved reliability and/or efficiencies in maintaining
and/or developing the cluster.
- Evaluate technical aspects of any change requests pertaining to the
cluster..

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Comp. Science or related field.
At least 1 years of experience of working with Hadoop.
At least 4 years of
a) programming experience (Java a plus)
AND/OR
b) Linux/UNIX sys admin experience
An excellent knowledge Unix/Linux and shell scripting.
An strong understanding of networking concepts.
