Essential Job Function:
- Perform database monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning
- Architects, defines and executes backup/recovery strategies
- Optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance, and cost
- Manages allocated disk space usage and memory allocations for database management systems
- Manages schema changes and implementations
- Implements advanced database security features
- Install and maintain database products, including patch application and upgrade of environments
- Architects and implements complex Oracle 11g RAC, Data Guard and Oracle ASM environments
- Develops, designs and executes back-up and recovery procedures
- Works closely with application and system administration and vendors to coordinate activities, resolve development and maintenance issues, and perform application tuning
- Audits user activity to ensure integrity and performance of the database
- Establishes standards, policies, and procedures for database administration and architecture
- Implements and maintains multiple database environments, including logical/physical design and modeling
- Develops and maintains proficient database development and design skills
- Advises clients on best practices for database deployment and managements based on requirements
Highly desired capability:
- Perform GoldenGate replication monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning
- Architect and deploy backup and recovery of GoldenGate replication
- Administers GoldenGate replication security
- Architect and install GoldenGate products, including patch application and upgrade of the environments
- Establishes standards, policies, and procedures for GoldenGate replication administration
Experience and Educational Requirements:
- B.S. in Management Information Systems or Computer Science (4 year degree – MS preferred). An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered.
- 5+ years (in excess of degree requirements stated above) of progressively responsible information technology work experience with various database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environments
- 5+ years in Oracle Data Guard
- 5+ years with hands on Oracle RAC
- 5+ years in Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN)
- 5+ years of a strong basic technical background based in Information Technology (IT) organizations.
- 3+ years with multi-terabyte databases and associated structures
- 3+ year direct, hands-on experience with SQL/PLSQL
- 2+ years in a leadership or senior level position mentoring Jr. – Sr. level DBAs
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to communicate to executive level management
- Experience working sales teams to scope out new engagements and draft SOWs
- Experience in both a UNIX and Windows based environment
