Location: Nashville, TN

SDLC (Rational) Application Architect

Role Summary/Purpose

The Rational Applications Architect demonstrates technical leadership in driving SDLC business goals, programs, and processes through leverage of deep understanding of the IBM Rational tool and SDLC subject-matter knowledge. In this role, Rational Architect will utilize experience or expertise to solve process and technical problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

 

Essential Responsibilities

• Responsible for the Rational application architecture, configuration, and future software version planning, conforming to established enterprise architecture standards and practices
• Serve as technical owner and expert and the integrity of the data and enterprise Rational data model
• Lead in the definition of systems solutions to Rational & SDLC functional problems and Metadata standardization by providing technical expertise in mapping and analysis
• Responsible for technical architecture design, data modeling, physical design, technology strategy, managing contractors within budgets and will play a key role in engaging many parts of the information technology organization to ensure the integrity of SDLC is maintained and roll-outs are successful
• Produce documented application frameworks or architectures
• Provide input into the technology plan for the SDLC roadmap, and ensure that plans for their assigned applications integrate effectively with other aspects of the technical infrastructure
• Advise management on application and supporting technology purchases and on future projects or environment upgrades / modifications
• Participate or lead in the analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of information technology solutions for business processes
• Work as a business partner with business users to evaluate / improve business processes and arrive at mutual, cost effective solutions

 

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or Engineering (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of information systems design, implementation, or integration)
• At least 3 additional years of experience in technical roles on SDLC implementations

 

Desired Characteristics

Technical skills:

§  Java, XML, SQL, Oracle RDBMS and Data modeling

§  At least 4  years Rational experience

§  Strong knowledge of end-to-end SDLC & infrastructure architecture

§  Technical project management over enterprise solutions

§  Knowledge of architecture and design patterns

§  Working knowledge of ERwin, databases, application servers,messaging,Service Oriented Architecture, Oracle, Unix O/S, Linux, Site minder, LDAP, UML, Reverse Proxies, J2EE and physical architectures

§  Established project management abilities
