Position: Application Server Administrator
It is anticipated that the work will be performed full-time on a Monday through Friday 8:00 AM TO 5:00 PM schedule, during the term of this work order. Additional hours may be required to complete critical tasks.
Objective:
Obtain the services of an Application Server Administrator Consultant to provide support to Los Angeles County Internal Services Department (ISD) Midrange Computing Division's (MCD) JBOSS and TOMCAT installations.
Background:
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) is implementing the EFORMS system, which creates a forms library where most commonly used DPSS employee and Human Resources forms will be hosted. The EFORMS system is based on JBOSS and TOMCAT applications servers.
DUTIES
The Consultant shall work under the supervision and direction of the CMS Information Technology Director or his designee and will complete the following duties:
• Implement High Availability JBOSS/TOMCAT Server architecture following established Application Server Administration (ASA) best practices.
• Implement Disaster Recovery JBOSS/TOMCAT Server solutions following established ASA best practices.
• Install, configure, test, and implement JBOSS/TOMCAT software and components, including new releases and applicable patch releases.
• Analyze and resolve JBOSS/TOMCAT server errors and report problems from all environments (i.e., development, test, quality assurance, training, production, Disaster Recovery etc.), and coordinate fixes with software vendors and customers.
• Prepare, coordinate, and execute change control to correct issues and enhance both production and non-production systems.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for production systems.
• Assist MCD project managers to coordinate tasks for the JBOSS/TOMCAT based application implementation.
• Provide documentation on JBOSS/TOMCAT and knowledge transfer to ISD staff.
• Research, establish, and document protocols and processes to meet new technical challenges and issues.
• Provide written status reports to County management upon request.
The Candidate must meet ALL of the following qualifications:
1. One (1) year's experience in the last three (3) years as a systems administrator installing, configuring, and maintaining JBOSS servers.
2. One (1) year's experience in the last three (3) years as a systems administrator installing, configuring, and maintaining TOMCAT servers.
3. One (1) year's experience in the last three (3) years as a systems administrator supporting production JBOSS and TOMCAT environments.
4. One (1) year experience in the last five (5) years as a systems administrator installing, configuring, and maintaining EMC Documentum software.
5. Two (2) years' experience in the last five (5) years as a systems administrator working in an environment with formal change control processes.
6. Two (2) years' experience in the last five (5) years as a systems administrator working in an environment with HA/DR capacities.
