Job Description:
Position Summary:
This position is for an experienced Java developer with background in Service Oriented Architecture concepts and development.
They are responsible for design, implementation, documentation, and day-to-day support of application components developed in Java on the Web sphere Application Server platform.
Key Accountabilities:
· Performs application development and application integration work necessary to maintain the Enterprise Services (EDI platform and Shared Services) solutions
· Develops application components in Java using Websphere Eclipse to maintain existing and to create new services
· Ensures the stability and manageability of enterprise services by authoring and communicating standards and best practices for the creation of SCA-based services
· Ensures SOA based services, components and applications are designed and developed according to the Enterprise Services reference architecture that guides the technical architecture, standards, and development patterns.
· Analyzes information system requirements, creates designs, develops solutions and provides documentation by utilizing specified tools and methodologies.
· Provides software development estimates that accurately reflect the size and resources required of requested activities and is responsible for the design of the technical solution.
· Ensures applications receive thorough unit, system, and integration testing.
· Provides solution support and troubleshooting following deployment.
· Provides cross training to personnel responsible for the long term support of the solution and assists in the development of application support training materials.
Provides regular progress reports; updates project plans, risk registers, and issues lists
1. Technical Expertise
· Extensive development experience in Java including implementation of Web Services and JMS or MQ based communication
· Strong demonstrable background in the following technologies: JSP, JDBC, XML/XSD/XSLT, Websphere Application Server (7.x and above), Eclipse, ANT, and Shell Scripting
· Hands on expertise in the following bindings: MQ, JMS, and SOAP/HTTP
· Familiarity with other technologies – WSDL, REST, WS-* family, FTP family, comms family (sockets, HTTP, MIME) a plus

· Strong understanding of SOA principals and services design patterns
· Understands service orchestration concepts and implementation
2. Leadership
· Works across technical domains to ensure compliance with technical architecture standards and patterns
· Assumes a lead role in technical area of expertise and collaborates to influence actions and decisions that will positively impact business and financial results.
· Champions process improvements fostering ownership and empowerment across the project team, IT and the organization
3. Acting with Urgency
· Regularly takes actions that goes beyond requirements to achieve objectives
· Provides leadership and direction for project execution
· Provides expertise to identify potential problems, executes adjustments to project timelines; task and resource allocation as required.
