Project Managers are involved in the definition, management, and implementation of significant information technology focused projects. Project Managers are business specialists and technology generalists that manage, direct and interface with business clients. Align technology solutions with business strategies, working primarily with senior management. Proactively identify opportunities, conduct analysis, needs assessments, cost/benefit assessments and broker other IT services. Includes those involved in release management.
PM CANDIDATES WILL BE EVALUATED ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
· 5-10 Years Project Lead/Project Management Experience
· Experience managing Data Warehouse related development projects
· PMI/PMP or equivalent certification
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to develop and negotiate win/win solutions to project issues
· Ability to work with end users/customers to understand and developer requirements
· Ability to facilitate JAD sessions
· Ability to organize and lead project related meetings with customer, development staff, and sponsor level staff
· Experience with Project Schedule Management and Microsoft Project for Project Scheduling and tracking
· Experience with Project Status Reporting
· Experience with Project Quality Management
· Experience with Project Budget Management
· Experience with Project Resource/Staffing Management
· Extensive experience with Project Change Management
· Extensive experience with Project Issue Management
· Experience with the State's PM/SUITE methodology
· Extensive experience with project development methodology and project management methodology and able to apply methodology in a practical manner
· Needs to be able to work independently and not rely on State or other team members for direction
· Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with programmers, analysts, immediate supervisor, management, system users, operations, other State agencies and the private sector. Meet with users for clarification and elaboration as may be necessary to clearly define a problem and conceptualize a development plan. Recognize, gather, correlate, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, and devise solutions and alternatives. make appropriate recommendations.
· Preferred (but not required) experience with State Government and Medicaid business area
· Required to work on-site in Lansing, MI
· Full time position at 40 hours per week 8-5 ET Monday through Friday
· Some extra hours are requested from time to time above 40 hours per week but require approval
· Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them
· Serves as a key resource on complex and/or critical issues
· Solves complex problems and develops innovative solutions
· Performs complex conceptual analysis
· Reviews work performed by others and provides recommendations for improvement
· Forecasts and plans resource requirements
· Authorizes deviations from standards--
