Responsibilities
Developing analytical solutions to business problems through the design and programming of MicroStrategy and /or data warehouse constructs and presentation layers.
Develop MicroStrategy dashboards and reports to visualize key insights, trends and monitor the performance of key metrics.
Design, model and develop data sets to support reporting and analytics.
Administering and maintaining the MicroStrategy tool set.
Recognizing and managing technical dependencies and/or limitations that impact analytic work.
Generate Ad-Hoc queries and reports based on business requirements.
Working with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and then translate requirements in BI reporting area either recommending an existing solution, developing a solution, or synthesizing requirement for delivery to engineering teams for development.
Provide expert advice in the usage and interpretation of data to various business partners.
Actively question and challenge customers to understand their requirements and reach the best solutions, near term and long term.
Understands and adheres to development and documentation standards, database design and storage.
Successfully implementing process improvements impacting own work and work of others.
Performs technical proof of concepts.
On-call application support is required.

Experience with ETL development.
Experience with media, entertainment, or internet business models a plus.
Ability to manage multiple, conflicting, high priority requests.
Ability to work accurately and effectively on extremely tight deadlines.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment.
Ability to venture into new functional/technology areas and learning on the fly.
Ability to work in an agile development environment with minimal documentation and process.
MicroStrategy, ETL or Database certification a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent knowledge and experience in dimensional data modeling with focus on MicroStrategy implementation to support reporting and analytics.
Excellent knowledge and excellent development skills in designing/building business intelligence and analytics solutions using various MicroStrategy products including Desktop, Web, Office, Report Services, Mobile, Intelligence server and Narrowcast/Distribution services.
Exceptional dashboard development skills using MicroStrategy.
Strong expertise with administering and maintaining MicroStrategy and/or other platforms on a 64 bit UNIX/Linux environment.
Analysis and creation of logical data models (normalized and dimensional data models) using industry standard tools including robust data definitions.
Excellent and through knowledge of SQL skills required for both troubleshooting, optimizing and to providing support of the Data warehouse/BI environment on MicroStrategy as well as to generate Ad-Hoc queries and reports on OLTP systems based on business requirements.
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical associates and vice-versa a must.
VLDB experience with multiple relational databases such as Vertica, Netezza, Teradata, DB2 , Infobright, Asterdata, Geenplum etc.
Experience with and knowledge of multiple Data Warehouse/Data Mart architectures including various MPP and SMP database systems.
Experience with performance and scalability design and testing.
Functional knowledge of OLTP and OLAP architectures, methods and processes as they relate to Data Warehouse input/output design.
Knowledge and experience in ETL process architecture, design and implementation using tools like Talend, Informatica, Datastage etc.
Customer-centric Data experience desirable.
Experience in deep analytics for big data desirable
Expertise in Java is desirable.
Experience with distributed analytic processing technologies (Hadoop, Hive, MapReduce, etc) is a plus
Experience in Advanced Analytics and tools like SAS,R, SPSS a plus.
DBA and operational experience a plus.
Required Education
5+ years Technology experience and a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering or a related field; or equivalent experience
5+ years Data warehouse/Data Mart design experience with Bachelors degree
3+ years MicroStrategy development and modeling, administration experience with Bachelors degree |
