Responsibilities:
Assists in creating and maintaining Oracle databases
Maintains database administration standards and procedures
Assists programmers in application implementation
Migrates application programs and related systems to production, and quality assurance environments
Assists programmers with complex queries and has the ability to tune queries to optimize performance
Provides assistance with the usage of database utilities or other related development tools
With general guidance and coaching, should be able to maintain and support physical databases on specific database technologies.
Designs and develops backup, recovery, archiving and conversion strategies.
Designs and develops physical layers of various databases.
Utilizes logical model to ensure efficient and reliable database performance.
Manages and maintains data in all production and non-production databases.
Manages database distribution, security and access requirements.
Adheres to administrative policies and procedures, priorities and methodologies.
Performs testing, reporting, backup and restoration of data.
Performs installation and upgrade of database software.
Working independently within guidelines, leads the design and implementation of complex logical data models and practices for data capture, data dictionary design and overall data integrity.
Directs quality control and auditing to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data.
Works with other subject matter experts to develop data storage strategies to support company needs.
Enforces data definition standards, architectures and policies.
Administers and manages data definitions within data repository.
Designs and provides support of data modeling for mainframe, client server, or web systems development.
Maintains data dictionaries and resolves problems.
Qualifications:
Five years' experience supporting the development of oracle applications on distributed platforms
Five years relation database technology expertise
Five years of experience in SQL and PL/SQL coding
Experience with Oracle Streams
Experience with Oracle version 11g
Significant experience in identifying and resolving SQL performance issues through tuning
Service oriented and able to share technical knowledge with others
Responds to requests for assistance, with some requests requiring formal responses
At least 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA
Knowledge of computer languages, specifically SQL, PL/SQL, ability to develop procedures and guidelines for usage of software packages related to database administration, ability to accept and learn new technology as it relates to database administration
Must have basic analytical skills necessary to resolve problems
Interpersonal skills, communications skills, and problem solving skills
Bachelor's degree with five years of experience or associates degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
