Job Title: Java Technical Lead (not a Project Manager)

Job Description:

Our client is currently seeking a Project Technical Lead. This technical professional will contribute significantly to the design and implementation of large and complex software solutions. The Project Technical Lead provides technical direction and leadership in the development of integrated business solutions. Decisions affect the overall success of the project and directly impact financial performance, schedules, and customer satisfaction.

Departmental Requirements:

· JAVA, Oracle database, distributed system technical experience preferred
· Documented experience on 4 or more large scale custom development projects
· Leadership skills (breakthrough thinking, drive to achieve, team leadership, straight talk, decisiveness, teamwork, personal dedication, passion for the business)

· Ability to provide technical/project guidance to junior colleagues
· Scope of work encompasses multiple components, or a highly complex component, of a software product or solution

· Defines, recommends, and implements software alternatives and solutions which will achieve a high level of efficiency and customer satisfaction.

· Leads multifunctional cross-site teams and project planning activities, ensuring that development is completed in a timely and cost effective manner

· Thoroughly understands and effectively executes existing software development processes and procedures and develops new approaches as appropriate

· Ensures accurate and thorough documentation is maintained for the project
· Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned

Ideal candidate will posses the following skills:

1. Environment:

· Has advanced and in-depth professional knowledge of software development, system/product design, and integration; typically acquired via significant professional experience.

· Applies this knowledge to solve complex software engineering problems within the business unit.
· Understands environment in which product is used.

2. Communication/Negotiation:

· Effectively uses teamwork and group dynamics skills to lead development of software engineering solutions.
· Positively contributes to a high-morale/high-performance team culture, leading by example.
· Communicates effectively with functional/division management and customers.

3. Problem Solving:

· Position requires analytical ability, creativity and judgment in analyzing, developing and implementing software solutions to complex requirements.

· Makes decisions and recommendations on priorities, design changes, improvements, and problem resolution.

4. Contribution / Leadership:

· Provides ongoing technical guidance and leadership for software development projects within the team or functional area.

· Actively participates in defining and deciding upon objectives which support the changing business needs.
· Recognized as a technical authority within the functional area.

Essential Corporate Duties and Responsibilities

Enterprise architecture, new technology implementation, research and evaluation of emerging technologies, strategic technology planning, consulting, software validation, e-business support.

· Working independently within guidelines, reviews, analyzes, and evaluates specific new and emerging technologies, platforms and services.

· Plays a key role in the assessment of technical viability of new products and technologies.
· Investigates technological alternatives and recommends direction.
· Participates in developing business cases and obtaining approvals for capital expenditures for technological advances and improvements.

· Analyzes proposed and actual projects in terms of feasibility, approach and adherence to technical specifications and direction and environmental requirements.

Education and/or Experience

· Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.
· Minimum five (5) years related experience preferred.
· Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
· Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
· Extensive creativity required across areas of expertise.
· A high proficiency level in specific job related skills is required.
