Solaris and Storage Administrator
Location: IRVINE, CALIFORNIA
Duration: 6+Months

Role & Responsibilities
o Responsible for administering and managing Solaris servers in Production Environment.
o Perform remote administration operations using SSH based Remote Console
o Perform incremental and full backup/Restores.
o Problem determination and resolution on a 24x7 basis.
o Creation and updating of Document when required
o Develop and maintain scripts using Shell/PERL
o Should be able to install Solaris
Ø Advanced System Administration skills. Ability to create mount points, file systems, add disk and allocate system resources to meet the needs of development are essential.
Ø Will be asked to follow documentation and processes to complete highly technical Solaris work on operating system patching, software installation and upgrades. The resource must be able to do so without guidance or constant oversight
Technical Skills Required
Ø languages, OS, Platform skills required
Ø Key skills required: (in the order of priority)
Ø Solaris (With certifications), Storage , Shell scripting
Ø Specific Domain/Technical/Functional skills
Could be one of the following

- Telecom Service Provider Applications
- WAP Gateway, Bluetooth Solutions, VLSI/ System Design, OS / Platform Technologies

- Sales & Marketing, HR/Recruitment, Quality /Administration

• Boot Disk Mirroring ,Jumpstart server setup,
• Shell/ Perl scripting with respect to OS admin (not app support),
• OS Performance tuning & management ,Hardware Upgrade,
• OS Upgrade ,Server Partitioning ,Managing core files Kernel Tuning ,Kernel Patching,Kernel Recovery & Troubleshooting,
• H/W Crash Analysis ,OS Crash Dump Analysis ,Capacity planning OS & Software Depot Management,
• Cloning & Golden Image creation,
• Volume manger administration ,Cluster implementation,
• HA Cluster Configuration/re-configuration,
• NIS Administration/configuration ,DNS Administration/configuration,
• DHCP ,Hardening of servers Log file analysis
Preferred
• Expertise with Open source projects, applications and tools like nagios, munin, subversion etc.
• Understanding the architecture of J2EE based web applications
