Certificate Authority (CA) Consultant
We are looking for a temporary consultant to provide expertise,advice, wisdom, experience and risk analysis to the Stanford's central InformationTechnology group on the setup and operations of an internal CertificateAuthority.
This contract will be for between 32 - 40 hours/week, fromJanuary 6, 2014 - March 30, 2014 with possible extensions.
The candidate will be part of a scrum development team and facetime will be critical.
The successful candidate has documented experience with:
- PKI setup and operations, issues, risk, trade off and best practices
- Cryptography practices
- Familiarity with vendors (VeriSign, RSA, etc.)
- Familiarity with Certificate enabled applications, SSL, SMIME, 802,1x, TLS, Code Signing,
- AD Certs, IOS Certs,
- Cloud path Experience a plus
- OCSP - how it is used, best practice
- Hardware Security Modules
- InCommon, Silver and Gold
- FIPS and how to interpret it for the University environment
- Use of certificates for end to end authorization based on compliance (use case)
- Advice in setup of the CA
- Certificate Practices and Policy Statements
- Operations Policies
- Best Practice Designs
- Role Separation
- Administration of the CA
- Recommended Certificate Management Software (pluses/minuses)
- Use of CA to set up Smart Card infrastructure for small populations
- Subordinate CAs
