Role: Linux Systems Administrator
Location: NEWTOWN SQ, Pennsylvania)
Duration: 12 Months
REQUIRED SKILLS:
-Minimum 5 years professional experience in a Linux/Unix data center environment
-Perform general operating system support for: SuSE and Redhat Enterprise Linux, HPUX, Solaris, AIX
-Solid understanding of Linux/Unix based operating systems including: paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and device drivers, filesystem concepts, clustering, logical partitions
-Knowledge of common server class hardware, including blades and traditional server chassis, RAID, connectivity to enterprise storage such as SAN
-Diagnose and resolve Linux/Unix system problems
-Provide support to operations, and technical teams
-Install and maintain Linux/Unix and third party software
-Provide 24 X 7 on call support on a rotational basis
-Provide support of systems performance and management tools and products
-Perform systems troubleshooting and incident management for systems and products
-Perform system enhancements: plan and direct upgrades of operating systems and products
-Support reliable systems backup and disaster recovery for Linux/Unix systems
-Monitor performance of Linux/Unix systems and related environments
-Assist in problems reviews and escalates issues for resolution
-Must be able to shift priorities as required to meet business requirements and deadlines
-Work closely with IT technical staff to ensure changes are implemented according to required business and IT technical specifications
-Follow the IT Change Control and operational procedures for all system related changes
-The Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, customization and maintenance of the enterprise Linux/Unix systems environment supporting mission critical infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers.
-The candidate must be capable of implementing and supporting high-performance, scalable, highly available computing platforms.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-The Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, customization and maintenance of the enterprise Linux/Unix systems environment supporting mission critical infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers.
-The candidate must be capable of implementing and supporting high-performance, scalable, highly available computing platforms.
-The main focus of the Systems Administrator is to install, customize, maintain and support Linux/Unix operating systems, as well as associated supporting server life cycle software and tools.
-The Systems Administrator will be involved with on-going development, maintenance and support of these systems.
-The candidate will be expected to work closely with colleagues in other infrastructure teams: Network, Storage, and Data Center.
-As a Systems Administrator, the candidate will focus management of server infrastructure from multiple vendors including: IBM, HP, SUN in cooperation with other staff
