Job Title: Business Analyst

Location: Chicago, IL

Duration: Long Term

 

Position Description/Responsibilities:

·         The Business Analyst will provide financial business knowledge support for the application and will be primarily responsible for business knowledge support to the development team and end-users in the organization.

·         This resource will be proficient in the understanding and use of various financial related software programs to ensure users are efficient and effective in fulfilling their business objectives.

·         The Business Analyst will assistance team members and end-users as functional and business process related questions arise,  troubleshoot applications and provide solutions or workarounds to the user community through written and verbal communications.

·         They are responsible for providing application knowledge to end-user change requests, including working with the Team Lead to organize the requests across all business areas and to establish priorities and direction.

·         Additional responsibilities will include assistance and providing direction with functional and regression testing cycles and he or she will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

·         The Business Analyst will have proven experience in working with all team members to uncover the source of business process defects and issues.

 

The business analyst will also perform quality assurance activities as needed. 

The Quality Assurance Analyst will provide support to ensure the applications are delivered to the end-users with the highest level of accuracy. 
The QA Analyst will be responsible for testing and the quality assurance of functional applications as well as the configuration and maintenance of test environments for custom and vendor financial software.

The QA analyst will be familiar with functional and regression testing cycles and rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 
They have proven experience in working with all team members to uncover the source of system defects and issues. 

 

 

Position Requirements/Technical Skills:

Skills required for the Business Analyst Activities:  Mandatory.

Experience in a BA or QA role for an Asset Management financial accounting or trading application, preferably a managed account, hedge fund or fund of funds application.  
Could also have applicable experience with an administrator or transfer agent system

4 year college degree

Experience in requirements analysis – identifying what needs to be achieved and quality measures

Experience in developing requirements traceability matrix – a cross matrix for recording the requirements through each stage of the requirements gathering process.

Experience creating application workflows 

SQL query and reporting technology skills a plus

Knowledge of requirements gathering methodologies

Experience developing Business and Functional requirements

Requires proven success communicating verbally and in writing to multiple project stakeholders internal and external to the organization.

Aptitude for understanding both technology and business concepts and processes

The ability to take control and manage tasks independently to closure as well as to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a cross functional team environment

Strong analytical and communication skills to facilitate the elicitation of user issues, challenging preconceived ideas and proposing alternative solutions, while maintaining strong relationships

Attention to detail and concern for quality and accuracy of final product (and ability to balance that concern with deadlines)

Outstanding decision making and problem solving skills
Escalates problems in accordance with defined procedures.


For Quality Assurance Activities:

Creating automated and manual test scripts, test plans and test cases

Execute automated and manual test plans

Participating in functional testing, regression testing and performance testing of GCM proprietary and vendor financial software.

Identify bugs, issues, risks, and bottlenecks within the software system.  Follow-up with the stakeholders and team members to resolve.

Hands on practice with Automated Testing framework and tools is required; acceptable tools are Selenium, Fitnesse, Test Partner, Cucumber, StoryQ, or others similar products.

Experience with Microsoft applications and MS SQL Server

Aptitude for understanding both technology and business concepts and processes
